Important Council on Aging program information:

COA is holding an outdoor podiatry clinic due to a lot of requests.  The clinic will be on Monday 9/14 and people can call our front desk to schedule an appointment.  (781-316-3400) Podiatry is $30 per appointment. We will have extensive safety measures in place and two podiatrists on site. The plan is to locate clinics behind the Library, in the parking lot by Whitmore Robbins House (the actual address is 670R Mass Ave.).

Our annual 5K race will be held virtually for anyone who wants to participate the weekend of Sept 5-6.  Kristine will send me an e-mail in case you have some ASA members who are interested; we have about 20 runners who have signed up thus far.

Michelle Tse, our new volunteers & transportation supervisor started a couple weeks ago.  She's great and is now the main contact if people need to schedule a medical ride with us.  We have also started up our van service on a limited basis within Arlington and people can call to inquire more about that.  We will be getting a "coffee and conversation" group up and running virtually so people can meet here soon!  Tel.: 781-316-3403; Email:

COA is going to have a "drive through ice cream social" on September 24 to celebrate National Senior Center month.  We will have decorations, music and our staff passing out ice cream sandwiches to people who want to drive through our circle driveway.

COA has 40 Chromebooks (laptops) to lend out to people who have the interest in learning how to use them this fall.  We are compiling a list so if you have anyone who might be a good fit, please let me know.

There are some new virtual programs that will be added starting in October- one of them is Art Therapy and another is Bingo.  Both of these will involve mailing kits to participants and the class being conducted via zoom.  Bingo will be free to play. The issue of prizes is being worked out.

Our exercise and other virtual programs are still getting larger by the week.
